According to Assemblyman Kenneth Zebrowski’s Office, West Haverstraw tax freeze checks will be mailed on Thursday, May 5. If you have not received your check by Tuesday, May 10, please contact Village Hall and we will contact the Governor’s Office on your behalf.
Prior Information About the Freeze Checks
You may or may not have received your check from the NYS Department of Taxation and Finance for the difference between your 2014 and 2015 school, County and Town, and Village tax payments. According to a customer service representative for the Department, the checks are being issued randomly and distribution will continue through the end of the year. You can check to see if yours was issued by calling 518-453-8146. You will be prompted for your name, address, social security number, and date of birth.
Additional information you provide may help the customer service rep locate your check. This information includes the Village SWIS code (392203), your Property I.D., also known as the section-block-lot. This can be found on your Village Tax bill. In the upper righthand corner, look for TAX MAP#. The section-block-lot is the number following the SWIS code. Also helpful is your STAR code. This was given to you when you registered for the STAR program.
The updated information we received is that Village checks are in process; if you do not receive yours by the end of April, please contact the NYS Department of Taxation and Finance.
